There is a preconception among a very large and vocal contingent of pipe smokers that pipe makers that employ the use of bowl coatings, do so to cover up flaws within the tobacco chamber. Nothing could be further from the truth where today's craftsmen and artisans are concerned. The bowl coating is...

Wow- very nice job on the re-work. I like the new color better too, although it does not set off the shank cap as well. I'd point out that in the first pic the bottom of the shank maintains the curve of the shank very well, but the line that comes off tear drop takes a straight line where it shouldn...

Something about about that savinelli and stanwell looks "off"... The shank is bulbous in it's taper and, at least in the pic, the shank does not come off the bottom of the bowl at the same angle (but that could be because the pipe is slightly tilted toward the camera...) That pipe does ha...

I was looking at the pipe, and while you have not asked for critique (yet) I'd like to say that you have the room to fix the rounded shoulders on the shank face without losing your shape...

And lo, did the Ostrogoth emergeth from his dungeon. And he looketh upon the entrance to his keep, and saw that it was filled with tubes. And not the tube from which the Innarweb is created, but tubes which had marked upon their surface a bold imprint of yellow and red, indicating their arrival fro...

It takes a man very comfortable in who he is to stand out front naked and scream "Wrestle with me bitches!". (but I do wonder if I may have taken the imagery a little too far...) --Kurt (who does not actually engage in olive oil wrestling, so get that right out of your head, Fra...

Wouldn't the golden ratio go from shank/bowl transition to stem, rather than mid-tobacco chamber to stem? Seems like the mid tobacco chamber area would be a rather nondescript, non-eye catching area.

Huh? What does Ostrogoth mean!? Modern day interpretation is: "Large, hairy, naked man of Germanic descent with an affinity for edged weapons, fermented barley juice, thong-undie-wrestling , and demonstrations of great strength." Don't forget the thong undies. They're very impor...

At one point Jeff had a "model" dunhill billiard that he showed to me as an example. I thought it was picturesque... Is it just the lighting or do the ones on the link above have square sides?
