Re: Sasquatch Blowfish
Yeah, you really read the grain great on that one... nice panels. There's a slight gap in the stem/shank junction.
Nah, I kid... we have fun though. Is that C&D Kajun Kake? Tried it once... smelled good in the tin, but made my tongue cry when smoked.

Re: Introduce & first pipes
Are these filter pipes? Shanks seem a little chubby, but I guess you don't have much of a choice if there are filters in there. I Like the bowls shapes, they are very well done.

Getting out of the military is normally the shadow box. KIA is normally boots, rifle and helmet. *EDIT* Let me clarify that, that's the symbol, they don't give the family that. Re: Bevelling without lathe
This pipe was done by hand. (ignore the pit) http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6125/5986229296_93f4a74056_b.jpg I made a cardstock gauge (gauge goes from the tobacco chamber then angles out around the bevel) with the angle I wanted, roughed it with a dremel and then sanded it to shape by hand with 80 gr...

I was expecting to find failed pipe stummels... not a new chainsaw.

Rub a pencil on the should of the stem, the part that hits the end of the shank. Insert the stem and it will mark the shank where it touches. Take a small file and remove the mark. Repeat until the whole thing touches at once. I use a half round jeweler's file... it's a pain getting that face flat ...

Re: How thin is thin enough- Shellac
Maybe this is because I have had face to face (well, computer screen to computer screen video chat at least) talks with The Big Bad Sas and kind of read his posts in the tone he talks in, but I didn't sense anything about his post that made me think he was going to huff and puff and blow down Necker...

Thought Nate made pipes full time, clocks part time and repaired high end lathes for a hobby?
Re: "glue"
This pipe had the worst inside the bowl pit I've seen in a pipe. http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6012/5986229280_6013b5a64b_b.jpg I used cigar ash mixed with honey to make a paste and put it in there, then schmeared some around the rest of the bowl and smoked a hotter burning aromatic in it. Somebody ...

Look, would you rather have hot water from the bathroom sink, or a pipe with no visible pits on it? It's one or the other.

I think that happens with anything you do a lot during the day. I went through a year of having applied physics nightmares in college. Then I got to wake up and do it for real, haha. You think Charlie Sheen has nightmares about doing blow and loose women?
