The end result

Post by oklahoma red »

A number of days ago I posted some show-and-tell pics of another Hatfield replica in progress. These are pics of the end result.
I've fretted over the stem on these ever since I started making them. I backed the bus up to the fork and went down the other road and put a more conventional stem on it. I also got away from the dark finish I usually use and lightened up to better show the nice grain in this block. I usually make these from ebauchons. This time I used a small plateaux from some of the blocks I got from Capt. Pegleg. It was close to being a flawless piece of briar.
Comments are welcome as always.
Chas.

Best regards,
Thanks Patrick. The stain color is called Golden Wheat, applied over a base coat of black.
