Growley Blasted Billiard
Growley Blasted Billiard
Hey guys,
It was brought to my attention the other day that I don't post pics here any more. So, here are some pics of my first blast with my own gear! I'm so happy to have a blast set up.
This little guy is only 4.5" long and super light. I just ordered a scale, but it has to be only a few ounces.
Take a look.
Thanks for looking.
Brian.

I'm diggin this blast man. It has a great look, and hey- it didn't dig in and distort the shape of the pipe- which is lovely.
Great button work as well!
What kind of stem material is that if I may ask? an ebonite? or acrylic?

Well, if you managed to get all your pipes half as good as this one, they surely will!Growley wrote:Thanks Jesse. It sold in 9 minutes! LOL. I wish they all went that fast.

I really like this one! I'm fascinated by your button work and would love to get a closer look. Do you have any closeup shots of it? Will you be at St. Louis?
Re: Growley Blaster Billiard
Unfortunately I don't. I've tried to get good stem and bit closeups, but I can't seem to capture images that are any good. I've tried different lighting, different settings, flash, no flash...all sorts of things. I need to get a better camera...and someone who knows how to operate it.UberHuberMan wrote:I really like this one! I'm fascinated by your button work and would love to get a closer look. I won't be in St. Louis. I'd like to make a show this year, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to.
Thanks for the compliments.

For closeups on buttons, you're probably best off shooting high resolution and cropping. Also, make sure your lights are veiled so they don't create glare- if you're using a light box it shouldn't be a problem. I find buttons awkward to photograph well, cus their so small.Growley wrote:Unfortunately I don't. I've tried to get good stem and bit closeups, but I can't seem to capture images that are any good. As such, shoot and crop.

I really like this pipe too. You're faithfully upholding the Alabama tradition of excellence. we're very proud of you. Do you ever schedule shop visits? Are you NE, NW, SW or SE Ala.
Re: Growley Blaster Billiard
Thanks. Basically you'd need head southwest until you hit the water, then back up 10 minutes. We're about as far apart as we can get in Alabama. I'm just across the bridge from Mobile. I'm always open to having people stop by to check out my "shop". You can ask Rad, it's very small, but....so are pipes, so it works fine. If you're ever down this way or want to make the trip just hit me up.AlfaDog wrote:I really like this pipe too. Really your first blast ? very nice. Maybe a few more minutes of blasting... personnal taste

Re: Growley Blaster Billiard
My first blast "on my own gear". I blasted one other time on Rad's gear. I was nervous to blast much longer because of how small the pipe is. As it is, it only weighs in at .9 oz, not even a full ounce.
I hope to get deeper blasts on some of my next few tries!

Re: Growley Blasted Billiard
On this pipe a deeper blast would be overkill unless you had a deeper flaw. It's perfect.
