Tulip with a new contrast stain

Post by NathanA »

I tried a new technique to get a nice contrast on a blasted pipe. I think it looks really nice despite the grain not being perfect. My wife thinks the staining looks "sloppy" whatever that means. What do you guys think?

I really like the stain. I think the stem is abouit a half inch too long. It makes the shank look too short which it isn't. Other than that, it looks good to me.

I agree with Wayne on all accounts. The stain looks great. I've been interested in how folks achieve that effect.

I was told under a cone of silence so I won't say how it was done but I will say that having an easy to use pressure regulator for your compressor sure is helpful.

I too am curious...it seems like we've stumbled upon the great contrast stain conspiracy.

Imma go with a pressure pot setup similar to one used in stabilizing wood blanks for turning with acrylic resin??? Double Jeopardy Alex!!

I'm gonna go with stain and then lightly sandblast and then stain for contrast.
