Wow! I love that colt pipe. What did you finally wind up using to checker the shank? I can see that becoming one of your signature type of pieces if that is what you wanted to do. The morta is very lovely as well. I can't wait to see what you do in 2012!

Well done James! Both pipes look great! Of course your 'checkering' is sweet, but I also like the 'cant' on the bamboo you used. Fantastic pipes!

Yeah, it's easy to overlook the morta and bamboo pipe next to your colt pipe, but the morta is also very well done.

Very nice, James. I really like the checkering on the Colt pipe but I have to say it draws the attention away from the rest of the pipe which is quite nice too!
Re: 2011 was a good year
Thanks everybody... and since it was requested here are the other pictures
as you can see in picture one the edge line wasn't as straight as it could have been.... when/if I do the design again I have some ideas for getting the edge straighter

Gosh, that's a pretty pipe. I own a 1911 (Springfield Armory, not Colt) and that would be the prefect smoke at the rod and gun club's out door range.
