I just finished this pipe today. I almost put it down when I ran into a cavernous crevice in the shank, but I need the practice, so I decided to expose it's flaws and see if I could use them to some sort of advantage. It's not a great pipe, maybe more of a Halloween pipe, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
By the way, I wasn't really going for the purple-ish color. I was trying for a deep red and black. Oh well. Critique if you'd like
This is what I started with. Check out the huge hole in the shank.
Here's what I came up with...
PS. The hole didn't go all the way through, so it should be a good smoker.
