Danish Style Dublin
Danish Style Dublin
Finished this Danish style Dublin up early this morning. It's very light at 32 g. The tobacco chamber is 3/4" in diameter and 1.68" deep. The airway diameter is 9/64". The bit thickness is 0.16". The mortise has a Delrin sleeve that makes for a very smooth, nice tenon fit. The stem is German ebonite. It passes a pipe cleaner easily from bit to bowl. There is a small flaw/fissure on the bottom end of the shank that you can see in the second picture. I probably should have sandblasted this one but decided to keep it smooth for some reason. I feel like I'm getting a better handle on my stem lengths. I have a tendency to make them too long and therefor unproportionate. Let me know what you think. All criticisms welcome. (I'm getting better at stamping, too. )

Hi Wayne,
really a nice pipe. If I may say my mind: I see on the third photo that for me the proportions are wonderful! Also the stem fits really well to it! But my opinion must not be important.

Thanks, Peter. I feel like the stem proportions are good on this one for a change.

Wayne,
to be honest: Lars couldn't have done it better.
Love the broad stem.
Perfect.
Cheerio!

In the words of Farmer Hoggett: That'll do, Pig.
I like it even if Walle doesn't.
Tyler, I'm not sure if you are saying that 32 g is lighter than what you consider light or heavier than you consider light.
I mean, for Sasquatch Famous Pipemaker, anything under 65g is "featherweight".

Beautiful pipe... I really like your idea of using derlin as an insert in the stummel.. haven't tried it yet.. but will someday.. a brass ring would have added to it .. set between the briar and the derlin.. so you couldn't see the derlin.. but that's more on the personal side...
I have to agree with Walle.. love the broad stem

Re: Danish Style Dublin
Very well done, Wayne! I agree with Tyler though. A 2 pound pipe is a bit much.
