Great! I'm really loving this shape! There's a lot going on in this pipe and it all holds together really nicely. I love the grooves on the bottom of the shank! The only part that my unexperienced eye doesn't fully like is the shank application, maybe you could have made the rings at an angle that would match the rings on the bowl...?
Anyway, great pipe!

Re: P1811 - E.T.
i understand what you are thinking of but, if i did that it will be in confrontation with the shank itself - it is risky to make the ring at an angle other than 90° towards the lines of the shank... the angle of the ring is there together with the shank, not the bowl itself - and when compared to the shank it is aligned properly IMHO...keilwerth wrote:Great! I like it.... it's a little busy but very nicely executed.. there seems to be a small gap where the ring is at before the olive wood, but the glue you used covered it nicely to a point where it isn't really noticable
nicely done

the gap between the ring and olive wood extension isn't there for sure - only the line of glue that i usually leave there (don't like to press to hard between materials) and is even and well distributed...
i used Forstner bit to make the olive wood flat on that side and also on the other too (before sanding the part towards the mouhtpiece) and the ring is made using a 2mm acrylic plate - so it is also perfectly flat no doubt in that.. glue can be seen, i can confirm that but from what i can see it is evenly distributed as it should be... so, i can't find faults there
...
Re: P1811 - E.T.
I love your work, so detailed and clean.
IMHO the olivewood extension match perfectly with natural briar.
Your pipes look crazy and stunning at a time, it's great.

Re: P1811 - E.T.
Very cool, Daniel. I think it's generally preferred to not have a glue line with shank adornments. That being said, in this application it really makes the white acrylic band pop as if you had two uber thin rings of black on each side. The only other thing that I think could be improved is the bead on the stem. You've rounded it off while the rest of the pipe has sharper beads and lines. It doesn't look bad but, IMHO, would look even better with a bead that compliments the design on the end of the shank. Very, very nice piece. Bravo!

Re: P1811 - E.T.
I do see some Walle influence in this one, but I would not consider it to be copying him. It's your own work. No doubt, and a most excellent pipe.

This is why I like looking at your pipes !
I won't say that every one of your pipes is my style, but this one really speaks to me.
Beautiful execution, and all of the elements seem to balance very well.
A very impressive shape, very busy but with lots of harmony.
Did I mention I like it

This one works for me, congrats!
The stem can use a bit more definition, in my rookie eyes.
But again, well done!
