This is my Old Billiard that didn't sell

Post by PapaDuke »

Now I would smoke this one.
Still learning but I tend to like this pipe.

The pipe didn't sell so I rusticated the parts of the grain that wasn't all that great to look at and left the parts I liked.
It has David's Bocote wood inlay and I shorted then stem

Oh and I tried a new Rustication process that I like the looks of?
It sort of has a tree bark look to it?

I really really like the rustication. If you would be so obliged, I would really like to hear more about your technique?

sure thing,
That is if I can explain it?

All my rustification is done with a dremel using the small ball bit.
On this pipe I ran small wavy lines (maybe 3/13 to 1/4 long) up and down the bowl but then ran the next set of lines offset from the last. Sort of how you lay bricks. Then I buffed them together.

Does that make sense?
Harder to explain then it is to do.

Glad to see you are making use of the wood I sent! :D Done any tampers with it yet?

A suggestion: thin out the bit and form a "button" on the end to be more mouth comfortable.

Sure did Dave,
I'll try and show you that tonight. I've made one from the Bocote with Antler inlay for the bottom. The wood is so nice I really don't think I'll sell this one!

Great suggestions by the way.
I wondered if not having a button would matter?
This is a large pipe, not one you'd really want to hold in your teeth so I skipped it.
