Hi everyone. This is a pipe I made, #1 in a group of three, for a "small works" art show I participated in last December. Subsequently this was also the first pipe I sold.
The idea came about as a result of the appreciation for the cool/dry smoking characteristics of my true calabash, and as a means of utilizing small hunks of briar that were too small for a regular pipe. The very first one I made I smoke regularly and it smokes exceptionally well.
The stepped design on the bowl rim was inspired by one of the trumpet mutes Miles Davis used during his career.
The bowl is briar with a walnut dec ring. The expansion chamber body is made of maple. The shank extension; walnut and maple. The stem is Cumberland.
Thank you for looking and feedback.

To me, the shank should come much closer to the bottom of the bowl.
