Re: Apple
That's looking nice! The stem looks like it needs to taper on the sides from the flare to the button. And the flare could be a little bigger for the size of the shank. It also looks like there is a gap between the shank cap and stem on the sides.
All in all, this pipe makes a favorable impression.

Nice work Harry! Hands down the best pipe you've made that I've seen.
While the shape of the stem isn't a bad move, I don't think it's right for this pipe. The stem looks very aggressive when viewed from above which is in contrast to the energy of the rest of the pipe.
I would also suggest getting your stem thin faster. It feels plump towards the shank.
The space between the flared saddle and radius ring isn't a problem for me as long as the shank face isn't visible.
Also, sharpen your lathe tools. Your saddle's sides are not straight but concave due to sanding on the lathe. With sharper tools you'll sand less and will avoid distorting those lines.

Decidedly nice pipe. But the stem looks like it's from a different pipe that's used as a makeshift replacement because the tenon fits (kind of. The elbow room at the joint is a ??????????) (IMO)
One thing you might consider is that it can be a nice, "this stem belongs with this pipe" design element is to leave the diameter of the ring turned in the stem the same diameter as the ring that finishes the shank (clash in colors would still be odd though, on top of the clash in edge profiles) (Rounded/knife edged). Tends to tie the two together with a common denominator, as it were.
And yes, IMHO, the button looks way too narrow for a pipe that stocky.
But, damn ! Its good features should decidedly appeal to folks who resonate with that design sensibility.

Nice pipe . You did a good job. Look at the pipe and make changes you think it needs, from time to time.
