It's Alive!
It's Alive!
Just finished setting up my pipe making space. There is just enough room for my lathe, band saw, drill press and a work bench, everything I need! While I was at it I went through the lathe with new bearings, seals and belts and a thorough tune up. The band saw got a tune up as well with new tires and thrust bearings. It's kind of humble compared to a lot of your setups but I am just thrilled to be able to get "back at it".

The product you turn out is all that matters... at least, that's what I keep telling myself.Sawdust wrote: It's kind of humble compared to a lot of your setups but I am just thrilled to be able to get "back at it".

Yeah... my shop has been called many things, slum, shack, and Yeti hole, but never "workshop"...e Markle wrote:The product you turn out is all that matters... at least, that's what I keep telling myself.Sawdust wrote: It's kind of humble compared to a lot of your setups but I am just thrilled to be able to get "back at it".

That's pretty cool. Are those 2x6's serving as the ways for your lathe? What kind of wood?

Thanks guys,
I made the bed out of 8/4 beech so it is pretty tough. When I did the final machining, I connected the two planks with spacer blocks and milled them as a unit so it's accurate as well.maddis wrote:That's pretty cool. Are those 2x6's serving as the ways for your lathe? What kind of wood?
