What a great story, I am sure I am not the only one that now desperately wants to try that tobacco :)

"but rev, isn't smoking a sin?"

well I suppose if one were to smoke to excess it would be a sin

"but what would be smoking to excess?"

Why smoking two pipes at once of course

I liked this;

"What makes the pipe distinct from other forms of smoking is that it refines the experience to its most distilled form. Unlike that of cigars, the tobacco in a pipe never touches the smoker’s tongue, so the taste is purely of smoke. Unlike that of cigarettes, the tobacco in a pipe is not meant to be inhaled. The proper way to smoke a pipe is more like sipping iced tea through a straw than Hoovering a cigarette. You draw a little up the stem, let it linger in your mouth, then gently let it go."

This belgian site:
http://www.au-plaisir-de-vivre.be/~aupl ... id_lang=19
... has a real online shop, that actually works (painstakingly slow, though), that carries several sorts of semois tobacco, that accepts some credit cards (few, though) and that ships worldwide (or at least greatest-part-of-the-worldwide).
Have ordered some ...

Yo, Scott... you left off, Father of a world-class musician

Truly, PF'ers, his kid is widely regarded as one of the best mandolin players there's ever been. A fine voice, too.

Wow, that's some talent. I bet Scott is one proud daddy!

BTW, you coming to Kansas City this year, Scott? I enjoyed talking with you last year.

I've been listening to Chris and have been a fan for some time now. Punch Brothers is playing in my shop often. For those that don't know, his dad is apparently a pretty good musician too. :wink:

Thanks, all! It's been an amazing and humbling experience to be a father, that's for sure!

I play a little bass and was in the right place at the right time a couple times. That's about the extent of my musicianship. As a piano technician in my day job I also get to work with a lot of amazing musicians. While that is a huge blessing, it also keeps me in site of my limitations as a player :(

Yes, definitely coming to Kansas City. Great show! Always a challenge to re-stock a few pipes to show after Chicago, though. Looking forward to seeing you all somewhere during the show season...
