YAZID

Post by DMI »

I'm sorry to say that it would appear that Yazid is playing games again.

I ordered and paid for 60 plateaus on 16/9 and have had one email from Dubai to say he would check where it was on the 24th. Since then no replies to emails and no briar. The last shipment took ten days from payment date.

This has left me well and truly up the creek as the money was a deposit from an order that I now cannot complete as I have no decent briar.

Will keep you posted.

I thought he had sorted himself out, my first order was COD because of his rputation and went fine, the second was a transfer and went fine and now....

The thing that really P's me of is that he is opening a smoke shop in Dubai.

Guess you should have made the second order COD as well, nothing to loose then.

Have you thought of dealing with Mimmo, his prices are not cheap but the quality of the wood is excellent and he is certainly reliable.

Eder is sending me a copy of Mimmo's full price list, apparently he does more than the bundles he has on his site.

Unfortunatley it may be irrelavant.

I would suggest you to try briar from Greece:

Amadeus: http://pipedia.org/index.php?title=Amadeus_Pipes have a big variety of plateux and ebauchons, their "Giant plateux" is great, you can make 2 pipes out of it.
Their "straight grain plateux" has the best grain possible.
P.E.Hermann have their briar, but it will cost half of the price if you contact them directly.

Alexander-Briar:http://myworld.ebay.com/alexander-zavvo ... 4340.l2559
He has the older briar wood possible, in large quantity. But he have only ebauchons in good prices.
His pipes here in Greece are considered the best-smokers, beacause of his briar.

I got 80 blocks from Yazid, 70 plateau and 10 crosscut ebuchons, a couple years back at really ridiculously cheap prices. Even with me having to pay a kickback to Algerian customs of something like $3.50 bucks per kilo, the order averaged 6 bucks per block. He sent the order and I paid him when it arrived. The last time he contacted me he wanted payment first and shipment second. I refused to do so and have heard nothing further from him. The only way I would now do a buy from him would be the ship first and pay second arrangement. There have just been too many horror stories here. bob gilbert

David, that really sucks.

I might pay more than I absolutely have to for briar, but the vendors that have proven to me that they can get briar to my house (PME, Mimmo, Jaume) certainly get priority.

Dear God I miss those nice algerian blocks.... but this guy is about one step up from an outright crook as far as I can tell.

Not being one to mess about I have contacted the Algerian Trade Legate at the London Embassy, could be interesting.

Please do update us. I crossed Yazid off my suppliers years ago, but morbid curiosity wins out in cases like this.

I had an email from the Algerian Embassy to say they had been in contact with Yazid and Lo and behold one from Yazid to say he was sending another parcel as the first one was stopped by customs.

Let us see if this one arrives.
