Now *that* is some good looking partial rustication. Quite nice! The overall shape is very pleasing, though a beefier stem seems like it would complete the pipe a little better.
What wood is the shank extension made from? It's very subtle, and good looking.
Thanks for all the kind words and suggestions. I used a 2mm gouge for the inital rustication followed by a wire brush then I used a tool with a couple screws in the end to give it more texture followed by a final brushing with the steel wire brush. To get clean edges onthe rustication I used a fine detail riffler. The wood in the shank is Cocobolo. I think it was a mistake stianing the Cocobolo as much as I did. It's got a great colour and grain, but I think it would have stood out more if I hadn't stained it quite so much.
