workshop question

Right now I have my workshop in my basement, but I am moving and being forced to use the garage. I live in Ohio where we have cold winters and hot summers. The garage is unattached from the home and not climate controlled. I am wondering what effects if any this will have on my tools, briar, and pip...

White Stem

I want to make a white stem but I am not sure what material would be best. If acrylic is my best option would I want to make an integral tenon or use white delrin. Also, Im wondering if there is a blue leather dye or wood dye. I want to make a blue pipe where the grain can still be seen with a white...

J Alan Pics

I was looking at some J Alan Twitter pics and I noticed on his bench he has a drill in a vise with a cork on the drill. Just wondering what that is used for.

Re: Stem length?

I think a tad longer than the pink line would look good.

Re: Unemployed + Too Much Energy = My first pipe

I really don't like to critique but that pipe looks too large and heavy.

Re: Rusticating

You could leave a little extra material on the rim of the bowl and the face of the shank, then just plug up the holes. I was thinking of making a larger tumbler maybe like a five gallon bucket so the medium that you use in the tumbler kind of falls on top of the stummel and beats it up good.

Re: ugly ebonite

Mike If someone disagrees with my methods of doing anything in my life, I usually try to prove them wrong. You should take some time and develope your boring bar method, then when you perfect it you can say I told you so. Just do it instead of arguing about it and getting on everyones bad side. If y...

Re: Pipe number 2

I know I messed up the drilling a little bit. I used a forstner bit to drill a pilot hole then I used a ground spade bit for the bottom. What I didn't realize was I had taken too much off of the spade bit while sharpening it and it didn't get rid of the remainder of the hole. So, at the bottom of th...

Pipe number 2

I posted my second pipe in the pipe in the hat section. I didn't know if I could transfer the pics here. I would really like some feedback. So, if you get the chance please check it out.

Thank you
