Love at First Smoke
Okay, I'm way behind the curve on this one, but I finally got around to trying Frog Morton and... it's true, I'm in love. Needless to say, I am now going to try all of the Frog Morton blends. So, that brings me to my question. Does anyone have recommendations- as far as blends that are similar and u...

Re: How good of a deal is this?
Kurt,
You had it right the first time: I do not have a lathe right now. What I meant was...
Is the Jet lathe good enough to use until I upgraded to a bigger lathe?
So, Alas, I'm still looking to buy a lathe.
Cheers,
TC

I've seen this done on a few occasions... however, tobacco was not the smoking-leaf of choice.

I've been saving my money for a better lathe, but if this is a good enough deal- and usable for most projects- I'll buy this one until I've saved enough to upgrade.
Cheers,
TC

Ahhh yes.... How can I refuse the chance to go insane and pay direct homage to one of my favorite pipemakers? I can't, count me in!

Re: Tried to copy Walle
I'm in for Pipe in the Hat- whatever incarnation it may be! I have no idea how to do the Walle-style finish, but when has that ever stopped me before?
Ps- Excellent pipe Sas, I think you should leave it the way it is, sounds like there are people wanting to give it home already.

Steffen,
I love the finish on this pipe- Fantastic! In fact, I would love to know how you did it. I also love the fantastic stem-work.
Cheers,
Danny

Handsaw Recommendations
Hello All, Sorry if I'm asking a question that has been asked before, but I could not seem to find a previous post using the search tool. My apartment is a little too small for a band saw- and my current saw is not getting the job done: so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good handsaw/typ...

Hey guys,
Just checking to see if there are any fellow Texans that live anywhere near Dallas out there? Also looking to see if there are any smoking groups/events anywhere close by.
Cheers,
Danny

Mini Grinder Question
Hey guys, I was thinking of trying to modify this...

to use as my polishing/sanding station. Does look like a good candidate or am I wasting my time?

Danny

Re: Sanders for Pipemaking?
A lot of pipe makers use a fiber-backed resin wheel for rough shaping, and a lot also use belt sanders or grinders. Which you use is up to you and what you're comfortable with since both have benefits and drawbacks. My main belt grinder for wood is a 2x36 Multi-Tool attached to a 1HP bench grinder....

For shaping a simple setup like this works well http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/8/9/7/9/8/1/webimg/408860358_o.jpg The flower pot and tumble drier hose connect to a vacuum cleaner to minimise the amount of dust thrown into the air. Hello Everyone,
I am a pipemaking newbie and wonder if anyone has suggestions for a good powered sander for those of us just starting out?
Cheers,
Danny
