Re: Making a stem with an offset airhole
Cool, thanks Trever! I think there was a discussion about this some time ago where you described the procedure; it's nice to have a pictorial guide. I also enjoyed comicbook Trever guiding us through the process.

WTB large diameter delrin
Does anyone have any 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" diameter acetal rod they could part with a chunk of? I need an inch or so long piece for a little project for my wife; I thought I'd check here first before having to buy a foot of it from a supplier. Thanks

Are you talking about whistling pipes or Todd?RadDavis wrote:The biggest problem with it is that it's really, really annoying.
It's also a sign that something ain't right in the airway, usually at the button end.

Re: pipe in the hat trade?
Well, here's my rhodesian. I'm fairly new at using a lathe and had some issues early on; this led to me trying some 'hand-facing' touch-ups which in turn led to the shank face getting slightly planed off at the edges. That's why it looks like there's a gap between the shank and stem, but it does fit...

Good call, and thankscaskwith wrote:320 is usually a good grit in these kinds of situations, aggressive enough to remove material but not so much that it will leave heavy scratches. In future, sand the top while still on the lathe, no headaches later on then

Lathe turned bowl finish
Relative newbie to the lathe question; I'm working on a rhodesian for the PITH and I was able to successfully turn the top portion of the bowl. I'm working on sanding the bottom and shank after wheel shaping and noticed how smooth the turned top looks in comparison. What grit should I start with on ...

My vote is yes. Another fantastic pipe too.wdteipen wrote:Is it acceptable or desireable to sacrifice the ability to ream the airway in order to make a superiorly engineered bent pipe otherwise?

I think you're pretty much stuck with it. The advancement charge is FedEx's fee for using their funds to pay your customs duty up front. That's why you get it so much faster.

An Oom Paul, traditionally, would be a full bent billiard. A bulldog would just be a full bent bulldog.SchmidtN wrote:Do Oom Pauls have hard rules to them or are they just any pipe with a full bend?
Can it be a bulldog with a crazy bend? Would Mr. King's Gear Punk be an Oom Paul?
