WANTED: Extra Long Taper Drill Bit

Post by giannilibrizzi »

Hey guys,

I am looking for an extra long 5/32 taper drill bit, just like this one:

I wanted to buy it off Amazon, but they say at checkout that I cannot have this delivered to Canada..... If anyone has one laying around, or would help me out ordering and then shipping to me, I would greatly appreciate. Money upfront, of course....

Have you tried looking at McMaster-Carr? I know I've bought 5-6" long tapered bits there before. Otherwise, I'd be happy to help with the ordering.

I have the 8" Fuller brand in stock for $25 each, but the shipping to Canada would be about $8

To be honest, I find most taper bits to be oddly shaped; the taper comes in too abruptly. They will work fine, but it's really easy and inexpensive to make your own on the lathe. Just slap a bit in on reverse and sand it down to the profile you like.
