I'm No Expert

After reading Rad's "Meet the Gang" post, I've decided I don't want to become the character, known as the "Expert", who criticizes everyone else's work but never post photos of his own.

So below will be posted some photos of some of my latest pipes...

Nice! The white/ivory colored stems really look sharp.

I think the dark stummel/light stem thing works really well - I did one like that recently too:

Really good stuff Walt!

I don't know if these are up here for critique or just show and tell, but I've always wanted to know why you don't round the edges of the button. Is it an aesthetic choice? They do look great though.

Are you asking about this edge?

I "break" that edge, so that it is not sharp, but if I round that edge, then it feels like the pipe is going to slip out of my teeth and, consequently, induces the smoker to subconsciously bite with greater force!

Oh, I see. Yeah, aesthetics I guess. I can't think of any advantages of doing that one way over the other...

Beautiful pipes! My two favorites are the volcano and the bent egg. Certainly not being an expert but making awesome pipes is obviously an advantage. Thanks for showing us your work's.

I used to make my stems the same way until a customer told me the corners poked him in the side of the mouth. Might have been user error or whatever, but I've started filing those corners off since then.

Like I said, not really a critique as much as a question and observation. Regardless those pipes are awesome!

Well, I do round them slightly, again to make sure they aren't sharp, but I don't take off a noticeable amount of material.
