Horn...

Post by JMG »

This is my first attempt at making a pipe in over three years (probably shouldn't have started with a horn.) Anyway, I seriously have to get better tooling. If I were going to be in the States for more than another 6 months, I definitely would. Anywho, I found out that I hate lucite...a lot. And that I will be giving delrin for tenons a try as I just can't seem to get a good stem/shank transition due to wonky cuts with my PIMO tool. Also, I really don't like the red stain, but it was all I had laying around when I got back to the States...looks like a devil horn, Lucite is rather iridescent and looks warped in places, sorry.

Look forward to your critique.

I like it!

Working with the tools you have the end result isn't bad at all. You already pointed out the major stuff yourself. Good job!

You definitely have natural talent, JM. I can't help but wonder what you could do with better tools. Maybe someday we will see.

Did you round all of this by hand? You did an excellent job. It looks really uniform.

I have a disc sander mounted to a motor, but no lathe unfortunately.
