Prince Comparison

Hi all,

I'm quite enamored by the prince shape and I've looked at several examples of the shape to discover what design aspects I would like and not like to implement into my rendition of the shape. Chris Asteriou makes one of my favorite prince shapes as does Dunhill. Which brings me to the opinion question I have for you all.

Which shape do you prefer, and which do you think encompasses the essence of a prince better? The first is an older Dunhill straight prince and the second is a fairly new one.

For me, I'd almost say I prefer the first one more. There's something I find charming about the trimmer shape. Not sure what other words to use to describe my preference... what do you guys think?

Thanks!

I like a few things on a Prince - one is that the bowl is compact, like both of these, the other is that the tobacco chamber looks pretty big, almost like a pot. The first pipe shows this. It makes the walls look thin, the pipe light and well carved.

I'd suggest that most Princes in other brands have a slight bend to the stem too. Essentially they seem to be a squat apple (sometimes drifting to brandy) with a long, slightly curved stem.

D'oh, that's right, the top one's chamber lends it the light and trim look. Hmmmmm.... this could be my first Dunnie *rubs hands*

I haven't decided whether I like bent or straight princes at the moment, they're both equally graceful! If I really felt the urge, I could probably try making another stem for this pipe (waaaaay down the line, if I keep at this pipe-making thing). I guess that's the boon of becoming handy, haha.

Thanks.

honestly neither of these show the true shape of a prince really shows both of them have a prince shaped bowl but they dont have the subtle bowl cant and bend of the stem that bring out the shape of a prince to me
