So I finished my first kit pipe this afternoon (thank you folks for the great information!) and I was pretty psyched about it. So I need to smoke this thing right now. I think I'll break it in with a little McCranie's Red Ribbon, one of my favorites. I pack it up and puff away, loving it, and reveling in my accomplishment. I get a little bit down the bowl and things start tasting odd. I'm thinking, what the hell is wrong with my Red Ribbon? Well it turns out that in my excitement I didn't clean out the bowl after I buffed it and I smoked a big wad of buffing pad thread caked with White Diamond compound. Absolutely horrible! I can still taste it an hour later. Lesson learned.

Lol! Yeah, that's a good lesson. Sand your chamber and blow through the pipe after you're done buffing.
