Pocket Billiard
Finished this one last night. The stem isn't quite perfect and I'm not happy with it at all. The light really tells the story there. Other than that I am really happy with how this one turned out.
Length: 3.88"
Height: 1.66"
Width: 1.30"
Chamber: .75" x 1.39"
Weight: 24 grams

Wish I could have blasted that! What a great piece for a Pipadelic! Nice wide rings. Cool!
Re: Pocket Billiard
I like it. The proportions work. Nice job.

Sweet little pipe with a big personality
Re: Pocket Billiard
I like it. I see the stem issue. Stems are tricksy.
Hope this helps.

Help me out here. I don't see what's wrong with the stem. Can somebody explain please?

Look at the reflections on the top and bottom views. See how they are not straight from button to shank? That is because the taper is not straight and the radius of the taper is off the one side. The high point of the radius should be right in the middle of the stem. Since it isn't the reflection takes a bit of a jog to the side before continueing towards the stummell. Hope that all made sense.

There's a sub-group of pipe makers who are affectionately known as "perfection chasers." (Why they do it, and why there are people willing to pay lots of money to those who achieve it is another story for another day, but just trust me that they do, and there are.)
Scottie is one of them. A perfection chaser. So are several of the regular commenter/critics on the board.
Sometimes confusion arises from this, because the site is for everyone regardless of experience or skill level. In short, for a while at least---if ever---there's no need to concern yourself with finely drawn aesthetic technicalities. If you can't see a certain subtlety that some people are discussing, just ignore it for now. As a beginner, you have bigger fish to fry.
UFOs must be real. There's no other explanation for cats.

I love this pipe! Excellent work!
Re: Pocket Billiard
Haha! Yes, I don't think I will be concerning myself with the reflections my pipes make anytime soon! Got a few bigger issues before that. But it's still nice to try and understand what people are on about.LatakiaLover wrote:As a beginner, you have bigger fish to fry.
