I think it's pretty sweet, Scottie. The problems will mainly be nitpicking.

Re: Morta Rhodesian
DAMN scottie! that is sexy right there! only thing I would say is I wouldn't have added that extra top ring. its kinda random
as for morta, I really enjoyed working with it. the only bad about it, is you need to know how to blast it and you need to be careful drilling because your drill will wander and follow the grain...

Nope. Start over.
Re: Morta Rhodesian
That's a very good rhodesian!
What's your stem behind the button? It looks too fat to me.
The rings on the bowl appear to be different heights.
The top of the bowl appears to swoop in a bit instead of being a straight line from the outermost part of the bowl to the rim.
Also, the top of the bowl appears too squat, throwing the bowl off balance.
That's all from the classics expert.

Re: Morta Rhodesian
The stem is .159" behind. I don't know why my stems look thick when I take pictures.
The top of the bowl does swoop in a touch...got a little heavy handed with the blast.
The rings are probably off. I cut them with a sharped punch and it wanders a bit in morta. Kinda fights the grain, I guess.

You make your stems that fat? Geez.scotties22 wrote:The stem is .159" behind. I don't know why my stems look thick when I take pictures.
Re: Morta Rhodesian
Before you bend your stem, are the top and bottom lines a straight shot between the bit behind the button and (in this case) the saddle or do they arch a little?

Re: Morta Rhodesian
If it's a bent it duck bills a bit. After I bend it I adjust the lines a bit to dial it in.

If you've got a stem or two lying around (or if you still have this pipe) g-chat me if you have a second. I think we may be on the right track as to why your stems look fat in photos.

Whoa Scotties!
Very nice professional work on this piece. The lines are all good and it is crisp and clean. Shape is subjective, and this form works very well. No need for critique on this one in my opinion, just keep making em this nice or better.

Re: Morta Rhodesian
What Premal said- mostly. I would say though that the squatness of the bowl is a bit too exaggerated.
Re: Morta Rhodesian
Yep, I'd say that's your best so far. Very nice. No critique from me.

Agreed.
I think if you knocked a tiny bit more material off the bottom side of the stem, showed a hair more curve....
