I recently uploaded new pipes to my website. http://www.laytonpipes.com
The original forum for pipe makers on the web

There's a section called "Pipes for Sale." He posted the right information in the right place. Can't blame the guy for that.BobR wrote:Have you considered this is a pipe makers forum?
I'm definitely no IT pro, but it didn't bother me at all.Massis wrote:I hope this isn't too direct or offensive, but as a professional in IT services, your website really hurts my eyes...
I think Bob was implying that folks on this forum do not buy pipes, because they can make them... But there does seem to be quite a few buyers lurking here as well.d.huber wrote:There's a section called "Pipes for Sale." He posted the right information in the right place. Hell, I thought his site looked pretty good....which got me thinking, my site looks even worse! Maybe I should hire Massis as my web consultant!Massis wrote:I hope this isn't too direct or offensive, but as a professional in IT services, your website really hurts my eyes...
If you want to make pipes full time and thus sell them easily, you might want to hire someone or use a predesigned package to have a decent looking website. A bad website means people leave it FAST.
In my case for example: I love browsing pipe makers websites and their galleries, but I never made it to your gallery. Clicked away from the site after a half a minute because it was so hard to oversee and read.
Everybody and their brothers beat me to the top quality briar... I only use the second-rate stuff.LaytonPipes wrote:Sorry for the website, I spent my IT money on top quality briar.
Didn't we all.LaytonPipes wrote:Sorry for the website, I spent my IT money on top quality briar.
Don't let Uberhu Berman suck you into that. It never actually happens. In the meantime, Sergey Brin pays him a dollar for every sign-up.d.huber wrote: Pull up a chair, load a shop pipe, and hang out a bit, LaytonPipes. I think you'd be a welcome addition to the conversations that happen here. We do Google+ hangouts on Friday nights too if you're interested and capable.

Rightly so, but there are quite a few decent free tools available as well, like wordpress for example.LaytonPipes wrote:Sorry for the website, I spent my IT money on top quality briar.
Give Layton a break. He is a good guy, has a great passion for pipe making, and is honorable.BobR wrote:Have you considered this is a pipe makers forum?
