Stinky Ebonite

Post by baweaverpipes »

I recently went in on an Ebonite buy with a group of makers. We are all familiar with the scoundrel that set up the buy and I think he sabotaged my rods with stank!
The stuff I received stinks to high heaven. Even my dog, who has been known to sniff dog poop, doesn't like the odoriferous stench.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?

You can send me some too. I find the stinky ebonite smell covers up the real poop smell that emanates from the diaper genie that sits next to my dust collector
Am I Calamity Jane or Annie Oakley??...depends on the day.

Well, based on our last substantial stinky ebonite thread I devised a checklist:
1. Complain publicly and seek advice [check]
2. Complain to manufacturer and tell them their rod stock is extra stinky, beyond the normal parameters of commonly expected stench. Your dog is a witness.
3. Complain some more on the forum and stir up some type of argument (the actual topic of the argument can veer wildly from the current topic, just make sure the opinion is vindictive and petty).

:) this list is only partial.

I'm an engineer. I like lists and plaid shirts. Polka dot pants are only for special occasions like... cutting extra stinky ebonite :)

Bruce, until you've measured the Rockwell Hardness of the ebonite, I cannot advise you.

You're right FJ - it was Shore-D. No wonder my pipes are no good, I've been measuring the hardness wrong.
