That is a great idea. I will make the hangout and invite everyone so people can pop in anytime they want for Friday Saturday and Sunday.

I am trying to get the word out locally for the event on Saturday with some paid ads and flyers, and contacting media outlets and bloggers for the Sunday private event. Does anyone have some other options or ideas for how to spread the word?

Cold calls. I heard Bill can split a phonebook in half with his bare hands. You can take one half and he can take the other and get to work.

Other than that, I don't have any ideas.

Neill Roan already had an add banner for you. Maybe see if he'll do a short mention on his blog

We are doing a write up of the event with photos and it will be submitted to one of the pipe industry media outlets, but I was wondering if you guys have any ideas of how to contact local media outlets. I have sent emails out to many of the media outlets in Columbus Ohio but there has to be another way to get the word out to the public with low cost instead of paid advertising.

Well local new is going to be out of the question because tobacco is evil. You could distribute flyers but that's going to cost money. Maybe some strategically placed flyers on message boards. We can each share the meetup flyer on social media to hit pipe enthusiasts that follow our work if we havent' already done so.

Yeah I think Wayne's got it. I know a lot of us have already been doing this so that's great. Something we can all do locally is print out a few copies of the flyer Premal made and ask our local tobacconists if they'd be willing to hang them up.

Also, getting in touch with local pipe clubs to let them know about the event will be very important. I've informed Craig Cobine so the CPCC should be aware. Any friends who enjoy pipes should be informed as well. Talking about it often is one of the best ways to get the word out.

It's driving me absolutely crazy that I can't be there with you all :/ I love being with my kids and wife, but I'm with them everyday, and this is such a great opportunity I'm missing out on. Have fun all, and post lots of pictures!

Just some updates for everyone.

Tim West will only have pipemaking supplies available on Saturday from 10 to 4 including buffing wheels and polish, and machine tools.

I will have mimmo briar courtesy of Vermont Freehand available for sale on Sunday along with Tooling from J. Alan Design. If you need more briar or ebonite, contact Steve from Vermont Freehand. Shipping is fairly cheap on it.

Also for all pipemakers that wish to offer pipes for sale on Saturday, you must approach me first before putting the pipes on display on Saturday. I will go over the agreement (which will be very in your favor). All of the sales must be processed through Smokers' Haven.

At 8:00 we will be meeting up at a restaurant in Columbus for Dinner. I will have limited room in my car so please make plans to ride with someone else if you will be drinking. Alcohol is not permitted in my shop Saturday or Sunday, and please do not handle any machinery if you have alcohol in your system. I am sorry. If you are arriving Friday I will be hanging out at the shop after we close, so please stop by. If you are staying Sunday night, you are welcome to hang out at the shop after the event.
