I see it every day in a field of parallel interest (paleoindian archaeology & lithic technology). An archaeologist with a doctoral dissertation in geology is supposed to say nothing on any other facet of the field, no matter how obvious it is. If he does, he's accused of operating "outside the sphere of his competrence."

My stuff's (bow frogs & rifles) all been given away, years ago, or I'd gladly oblige you. :D Now, all I "do" is words.
I am all for having multiple viewpoints present in anything I participate in. It is good for all to have you participate on this forum.

it is always good to know if I am discussing things with someone who has been there and done that, or is simply a poseur.
Wow. :?

IF it is possible for a retired architect to "know something" about designing parking garages even though what he designed were houses and shopping centers, because doing architecture pretty much boils down to applying the same basic principles to the specific architectural task at hand, well and good.

If not, you are a vigilant guardian of Truth in the discussion of Pipemaking, and I am . . . a poseur.

As charged.

Either way, I think I have afforded you more than enough in the way of civil responses to (IN MY OPINION  ) zingers that are difficult (on my part) to distinguish from jealous hostility on your part.

Thank you for the welcome, Premal. It's appreciated and valued.
I think you have misunderstood me completely, but I am not going to press the issue. I am genuinely sorry for offending you.
