Time to start thinking about 2015.

Disclaimer: ALL DECISIONS REGARDING THE CONTEST ARE QUINTON'S... I'm just his designated point man on this forum. Meaning what I say is NEVER the final word or official, but is the best you're gonna get short of calling him directly.

With that in mind, IF he decides to do the classic/free-form alternate years thing, 2015 would be a free-form year. Meaning there would be only a single design ELEMENT requirement, not a shape requirement.

Suggestions so far are:

--- Cavalier

--- Bamboo shank

--- Sitter (FUNCTIONAL sitter, not "rules lawyer" sitter like a ballerina)

Thoughts?

I like the idea of a cavalier. From a "creative" standpoint I think it really makes the possibilities endless.....and I'm sure harder to judge :)
Am I Calamity Jane or Annie Oakley??...depends on the day.

I'd go for the sitter or cavalier, but if it came to a choice, cavalier. There is a lot of overlap between the two.

Would cavalier mean drilled like a cavalier, or shaped like a cavalier? Some cavalier shaped pipes have standard drilling.

Functional cavalier, of course. (Else, why bother?)

I'm not sure that asking the contestants what they'd prefer to make is the right way to go.

Anything BUT cavalier is my vote. Having said that, I think it would be an easier contest to win. I've seen a LOT of really horrible cavaliers.

How bout a Reverse Blowfish Calabash Cavalier Sitter w/ bamboo?

Or maybe make it a little complicated and do one of the classics like a Brandy.
