Look what the cat dragged in...
A package of Semois!
Do I have a good cat, or what?
It arrived this afternoon. Haven't tried it yet, but am prepping a bowl right now. Will report back soon.

UFOs must be real. There's no other explanation for cats.

Re: Look what the cat dragged in...
Well... dammit. The stuff is good.
I was half hoping it wouldn't be anything special, so I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of getting it in the U.S.
Medium-full body; smooth, easy burn; very tobacco-y flavor that's bright on top and mellow underneath. It's a rare case of the tin aroma matching the taste. What makes it special? Everything about it---the entire sensory bandwidth---is uniquely, distinctively, and pleasantly fruity. Not at all in a topped or artificial way, though. It's something about the leaf itself. How it is processed, toasted, or the soil it grows in... I have no idea.
The NYT article was right. I've smoked a pipe for 39 years, and tried hundreds of blends, and there's nothing else like it. I can easily see someone settling on this stuff and being happy forever.
Dammit.

A long-time collector friend in NYC decided to bomb me with it. He found out I'd been asking around about the stuff, and that's all it takes with guys like him.scotties22 wrote:George....How the hell did you manage this????

What's the nicotine kick? I'm kinda a lightweight and the write up made it sound vitamin N heavy... that's why I passed on the group buy.
Hello, I'm #1312.
That's a really big number.

Might be slightly stronger than most tobacco's but I didn't find it had that much vit. N. in it...
Try a black rope tobacco if you want a nicotine kick. Feels more like being hit with a sledgehammer to the face.

Yup! Anyone who still wants in, PM me with what you'd like. I've got a nifty spreadsheet to keep track of everything.
After reading this thread, I may have to order an extra pound. Dammit.

No, I think I might have misrepresented myself there. I do NOT like nicotine heavy pipe tobaccos, just tasty ones that don't make me sick.Massis wrote:Might be slightly stronger than most tobacco's but I didn't find it had that much vit. N. in it...
