Nothing special, no wonderful grain or nice blast, but I thought I might as well post.
Comments appreciated, as usual.

If there is such a word I would say this one has an "earthy" appeal to it. Good pipe for knocking around out in the veld.
Looks like a little bit more material could have been removed to smooth the transition between the bowl and shank. Appears to be a hump or bump in the curve. Once past the bump in the road things flow smoothly.

The blast doesn't suit me but the proportions and transitions definitely do.

Hmm, definitely a no-worries everyday type of pipe!
Btw, that bump/hump appeared after blasting. Weird. Didn't want to go back to the disc and start all over again.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, it's not that bad at all. Blasting will sure find the hard and soft spots in a hurry. It's a bitch to watch a big spot on a pipe just disappear and and be left holding a distorted junker in your glove. Going back to the wheel might not have worked anyway since you would have to re-blast the same spot again and in turn some other weird anomaly might show up.

I really like the shape. Smooth, consistent shape from end to end. I like the subtle rustication that allows some of the grain to remain visible. There's a time and place for really aggressive rustication, but the gentle approach on this pipe is attractive to my eye.

Looks like a rock or something. I like it. Like a genuine cowpoke sort of rawhide and dust sort of smoker. I'd take that out into the desert with me. And I think Louis L'Amour would agree.

Really big-looking chamber though. Is it gonna survive?

I actually really like that. I want one of those!

I think that's what I love most about it.

To finish off with a question from a newbie, what shape is that?

P.S. I'm South African too

This is what you have to love about the internet. People from all over the freaking planet can join in together on discussions.
Thanks Al Gore, for inventing it all.
Seriously tho, it is quite a wonderful thing.

If not for the upright bowl one might call it a Zulu/Rhodesian hybrid.

I'd say it's a Rhodesian horn cross. A Horndesian.

Sure it's not a Rhodulu?

How about a Zudesian or Zuludesian or a Horneyzulu?
This could go on forever. Charl is probably shaking his head about now.

I like the shape very much. The tobacco chamber looks too big to me for the size of the pipe. The sandblast isn't as defined as it could be but that's a personal preference thing. The bottom line on your stem could stand to be more concave at the bend to make it a bit more graceful. One thing I do is go back to the round file after bending the stem in this area then back up the sandpaper grits. Very nice pipe overall, IMHO.

I see yes, thanks Wayne. Sometimes when looking at your own pipes, it's as if you're looking so hard that you actually miss stuff that is immediately noticed by other people.

I agree, Charl. I notice it because I struggle with getting my stem work just right so I tend to look at stems with a more critical eye mostly trying to learn myself.

I really quite like this pipe. Sometimes it's the ones that we as the makers think "eh so what" that others think otherwise. I look at this and in feelings of comfort think "old friend".

If only all our customers would think like that, I'd be a happy man.
