I've decided to ditch the dremel and buy a Foredom. Any difference on the models? Are the older ones better? newer ones?

I don't have an official foredom but it is a copy of the same tool. Best advice I can give is to make sure you get a reversible motor, for a leftie like me it makes a huge difference.

Foredom is a work horse, if you don't like it you won't for a very long time

I have the Wecheer brand, and have used the Foredom, I cannot tell the difference between how they work. I haven't had any problems with the Wecheer that I had for a year, and when I saw them on sale I bought a second one with the 1/4" collet so I did not have switch handpieces when changing shank size burrs. I use my for both carving and jewelry work.

Is it better? I cannot tell the difference, but it is cheaper. Then when Woodcraft put the Wecheer mini motor on sale I bought one of them.

Been using the mastercarver from woodcarvers supply for 5 years and it is going strong with only one shaft change a a few motor brush changes. It has a few nice attachments too.

I've got a dremel with the flexible shaft and I am ready to move on. The only thing I use it for is to cut the slit on the mouthpiece a la Kurt's tutorial. I am consistently annoyed because regardless of the efforts I've taken to remove all play there is a bit of wobble, and the cheap dremel collet for the 1/16th drill bit is never properly centered so the width of my slot, when I use the dremel, is much to big.

Have you guys experienced anything similar with the pricier systems? Or does a 1/16th drill bit cut a 1/16th hole?

If that's the case then I'll seriously consider an upgrade.
