Chuck Parts ?

Post by Alden »

Finally got my first day in the shop after a month on the road. Halfway through drilling a bowl, my block starts wobbling around in the chuck. I got the lathe stopped before it came flying out at my crotch.
Took me a minute to figure out the bolt that tightens up the jaw has stripped out.
My question is, what exactly do you call this bolt, and any idea where I can buy one ?
My chuck is the standard 4 jaw from a Jet BD920N.
The bolt is the square headed thingamajigger you put a key on to tighten the jaws. I'm sure there is one for sale somewhere, just not exactly sure where to start looking.

Now that I just typed that, I realize there are two other jaws and two other bolts somewhere.... I dont recall if Trent Rudat sent them back with the chuck or not :banghead:

The bolts on that four jaw strip easily. You can get replacement parts directly from Jet, or get a similar one from a machine tool supply.

Thanks Premal. Jets 1-800 number was down all day the day I tried calling. I called Trent and he had a couple in the shop. Sending them to me free of charge, wouldnt even let me pay the priority shipping. What a guy that Trent
