Anyone know anything about Craftsman model # 149.23871?
I have a lead on one for $79.00.
Unfortunately I can't find any info about it, so I don't know if it is a good buy.

Re: Craftsman Lathe
I just did a google search and it seems to be an old Craftsman wood lathe.

Re: Craftsman Lathe
If it's $79 it's probably junk. Craftsman made some pretty crappy ones. I know because my first one was one i picked up for $75. It wasn't useable and i wsted $75. You probably will too if you buy that lathe unless you just scrap it for the motor. Now if it was an Atlas.......
Re: Craftsman Lathe
Local guy has a $99 Duracraft lathe, think they were made by the same folks? His is supposedly "new"

That definitely isn't new. Look at the mfg. date in one of the pictures. I think it says either 1992 or 1982.Blueb3 wrote:Local guy has a $99 Duracraft lathe, think they were made by the same folks? His is supposedly "new"

That Duracraft is pretty much the same lathe I bought to start. It's fine for turning spindles or making baseball bats but you won't be happy with it for making pipes.
