Looking for a taig lathe

Post by Nank Brown »

Hey guys, I finally have my wood lathe set of up turn some pipes, but would love to have a small metal lathe (better than the old craftsman I bought and sold) for stems, I was wondering if any one here had a taig metal lathe they would be willing to let go of???

Thanks,
Nank

Just wanted to say, I have several motors already, I buy them when ever I run across one, so a do not need the motor with the lathe, just the lathe, drilling tailstock, chuck, belt and work carriage.

Thanks,

Look here http://www.cartertools.com/. You can buy as much or less of the lathe as you like through this guy. Great service.

Excellent! Thanks a lot for the link. He even has a package for pipemakers! Unfortunately he mentions its not big enough for larger stummels, but hey, at under $500 thats not bad.

Any guys have any experience with the Taig lathes?

It really is a great little lathe, micro that it is. I have turned several small stummels with it. Fixing to have a chuck modified for it.

I have a couple taig lathes, I would buy the taig with the big bore spindle with the indexer.

both of my taig lathes are set up with live cutters.

I do not suggest a taig for metal work.

one outlet for taig lathes is http://cuesmith.com/
chris hightower owner of cue man billiards is very honest man.
