Just finished this one, had a few set backs with it... This is my first time doing a wooden case for a pipe...

That's a cool pipe- I love the finish on the blackwood(?) case. Blackwood has an incredibly gorgeous yet subtle grain.

Awesome! Question about the lichen though, do you do anything to "fix" it or is it likely to die/rub off in use?

There isn't really anything that you can put on lichen that will make it look natural, so I found it's best to just leave it be.
It will stick to the wood and keep its color/shape fairly well, for a long time. I've got some pieces of this lichen covered wood that has been sitting in my wood drawer for years, and it looks just as good as they day I put it in there.
