The Pipe of the Magic Bean

Post by meathod »

Just finished this one, had a few set backs with it... This is my first time doing a wooden case for a pipe...

It's inspired by a black bean. The idea is that the pipe is the bean sprout, and you open up the shell to take out the sprout.

More detailed Information and some extra photos Here.

JMG- its all about what he smokes outta the pipes :P That's a cool pipe- I love the finish on the blackwood(?) case. Blackwood has an incredibly gorgeous yet subtle grain.

Impressive and creative as always.

Especially with the 3 last pipes you've made, you really have me waiting for your next.

Well done :D

Ha, that might have something to do with it. And I agree, african blackwood has a subtle grain that is just gorgeous.

Also, I am drunk as fuck.

Awesome! Question about the lichen though, do you do anything to "fix" it or is it likely to die/rub off in use?

There isn't really anything that you can put on lichen that will make it look natural, so I found it's best to just leave it be.

It will stick to the wood and keep its color/shape fairly well, for a long time. I've got some pieces of this lichen covered wood that has been sitting in my wood drawer for years, and it looks just as good as they day I put it in there.
