Something a little different?

I don't live near a good tobacco shop, so I have to rely on the internet for my purchases.

I have limited experience with different tobaccos because when I found a style I liked I stuck with it.

I prefer English blends over aromatics, with the exception of Pembroke.

I have tried and like the following:

Penzance, Frog Morton On the Pond, McClelland Jubilee, Peterson's Old Dublin (all very good, but variations on the same theme) and Peterson's Irish Whisky & Sweet Kilarney (I don't care for either of those.)

So, here is my question: What else is out there that I might like? I'm looking to expand my horizons beyond Sweet Virgina and Latakia.

Thanks

You should give unsweetened VAs and VA/Perique blends a try. They will have some natural sweetness but more depth. I would recommend GLP Union Square for a good not-so-sweet VA, and for VA/Pers, Escudo and Solani 633 are good places to start.

Another type of blend to try might be VA and oriental blends. They have some VA sweetness and spicy notes from the orientals. I can't recommend many of these as they are pretty new for me, too, but GLP Embarcadero and McClelland Classic Samsun are both good.

+1 with VA's and VA/Per. Great advice. Something else you could try for a change would be a nice burley, like Wessex Burley Slice or Solani Aged Burley Flake.

Good luck,
Jim

I say, try them all!

Every once in a while I'm very surprised by something. Most recently was Park Lane's Turkish Mystery that a customer sent me. This stuff is great!
