Ugly Betty...
Ugly Betty...
This pipe was made to be a working pipe... even if it seems that a smoker will have problems to hold it, it is very nice to hold in hand probably due to sides that are slightly "bent towards the tobacco chamber" (don't know how to say it differently).... also, the pipes does not have any carnauba on it, only brown tripoli and it would not be hard to find few markings from sanding paper on it (i am talking about the rim of the tobacco chamber) - so please have that in mind... it is a little workhorse... and experiment in shape that is very nice to hold and i hope to smoke too...
the pipe looks kind of old and used and that is exactly what my intention was... to make a new pipe with not so classic shape that will look used and "with experience"...
enjoy...

Re: Ugly Betty...
Nice one....... It's good to stray from the typical once in a while.
That's one I'd smoke and enjoy myself.

Re: Ugly Betty...
I really like this pipe. And the partial rustication is very fitting. And sitting on my favorite tobacco as well....

Nice work Daniel! Unique shape with interesting details all over it. The concave sides should indeed make it nice to hold. I like the rustication you used on it, seems to fit well with the design.

Hey Danijel,
could i imagine this pipe in a sci-fi movie - Absolutely! It is a spice pipe for 'Dune the Desert Planet" by David Lynch .
So many different elements submerge in this shape that it is a walk on a border line and you still managed to sustain this fragile equilibrium.
May the force be with you

Re: Ugly Betty...
Abi, my friend... this answer you just posted strikes me like a lightning...
believe it or not, just today i was thinking about the same book serial/movie from F. Herbert... i read the whole serial several years ago and this left a deep mark in me... it has something very mistic, something very close to me and very deep in there ..... and just today i was thinking of a pipe ... a very special pipe ...........

Daniel,
I waited quite a long time to make my comment ....
Well. You learned a lot. Your skill is amazing. This pipe is not ugly at all.
But:
Betty is just overloaded.
Too many frills, too many details.
Betty´s tits are just too big.
They frighten me.
Cheerio!

yes... i have to work this shape arround few more times to make it better and better... it has few issues that need to be made differently and it will be very very nice... ....
it is a very good shape to use when working with small briar blocks... it uses the material to the maximum...
