Just to think that I, along with MANY, MANY other pipe makers, have been ruining the porosity of our pipes.

BUT WAIT! YIKES! I can't breath! Shellac has clogged me all up and I no longer have porosity. By jove! No! Don't clog me more! Please don't put carnauba on me! The hideous double whammy!

Ah, who cares? Aniline dye is associated with transitional cell carcinoma, so just give my the dye and a bowl full of Perique or straight latakia and I'm good.

So I'm guessing you only use a single application of dye in hopes of not "clogging" those vital pores?
