the n00b's Churchwarden

Post by Lakemonster »

Howdy. This is my first post here. Figured I might as well chime in with a picture of my work.

I am a noobie to pipemaking . This particular pipe is my 5th churchwarden. All of my pipes are made without the use of a lathe.. (not for long tho.)

Please give me your honest thoughts......I really could use them to aspire to a greater skill.

thanks..... very nice board BTW.

Lake, that is a great looking pipe. I never made a churchwarden but think I might give it try. Hope it turns out as good as yours.

O yes, Welcome. Glad have you on the board.

Nice pipe bud. Welcome.

What kind of tool did you use for the rustication? Additionally, does the stem meet the stummel at an angle? Or is the face of the shank flattened to fit the stem?

I used a dremel with a barrel shaped cutting bit and used the "corner".

The mortise face is recessed about a 1/16th... not only does this hide the fact that I dont have a lathe....... but allows the user to switch to a fancy military style stem.
