a stupid tool to help getting pipes round

Post by daniel »

It was one sleeples night again, and i found my self creating
something in my mind. well, i drew few pictures and went to sleep,
with a peaceful mind.
I concider this as some kind of lathe-like piece of sh*t. anyway.
here is the pic.

the big idea is to shuf the sticking part of the tool in the base,
put dremels sanding bbit going through the "canal" in the sheet of plastic,
and just roll the whole thing.

in theory this worked out well, only thing is that the plastic started to melt down so i had
enforse it with aluminium sheets.

anyway, i have a better updated version coming up,
that one should be made from metal and should have ability to be adjusted.[/img]

I think it's an even scarier version of this . . . which is saying a lot! :D

yes it´s a version of that, heh.
but i wouldn´t use the thing that is in your picture :D
when you use dremels sanding drum with my piece, it doesn´t look that
cruel to the wood at all. maybe i sshould post few pictures more.
or maybe i should ask someone to delete this topic :D

actually, my left hand wasn´t working too well when i did this,
so i don´t know if im going to use it again, anyway,
the picture of the new version in my mind, is interessting enough to make
it real.

I get the "mission" of the thing on Todd's picture. With yours I'm a bit confused... quite a bit :D
Does it work like you stick the *center* of that tool into the bowl and then you stick the dremel into the outer whatever and then roll it around the bowl from the outside to have the sanding drum at equal diameter from the center of the bowl?

There is a name for such a tool. The Danes often use it to drill the tobacco chamber and shape the chamber at the same time. I saw one when I visited Kai Neilsen in his shop. I'll see if I can track down the name.
