Electric motors

Post by KurtHuhn »

Anyone have an online source for electric motors? I'm looking for a standard low-HP 1725RPM motor like the kind you get from washing machines. The local washing machine repair shop wants ugly money for used ones, and there isn't a junkyard within easy lunch-break distance.

This may be more than you're wanting to spend, but you'll never have to replace it. I have 3.

Considering that's how much the local place wanted for a *used* one, that's not too bad. I'm hoping to find a place that deals in used or reconditioned, but I'll keep these in mind. Ideally, I'd like to find a used or reconditioned Baldor.

There's also Tractor Supply very close by. From their website it looks like they have GE motors. Hmmm. Still a little rich though.

I'll keep looking. Thanks!

Hey Kurt,

How about this site:

http://www.surpluscenter.com/electric.asp

I have never ordered anything from them, just happened up on the site.

it works great except there is no switch you have to plug it in to turn it on.

Oh hey! They have a base-mount, split-phase, dual shaft, 1/4HP motor for $25. That might fit exactly what I need. If I can get by with 1/4 HP, this will do me nicely.

Many thanks!
