Could use advise on removing a nickel silver band on old pipe shank.
It is silver coated and has bad rusting. Tried a pliers but it won't budge.
It may be glued on? Any suggestions on removal. Thanks!

It may be glued - but it is almost certainly a shrink fit, too. ie; they heat the band up when they put it on - making it larger. Then when it cools, it shrinks to a very tight fit. My advise is to send it to someone that knows how to work on it (unless it isn't a keeper). You can use heat - like a jewelers torch to heat the band.

If it is actual rust, then chances are it is nickel or chrome plated. Silver is usually plated to brass. If you have a heat gun, try that before using a direct flame.

Thanks for information. I was thinking of using heat, but wanted more
assurance and alternatives before going ahead. Thanks again for help.
