Pen Blanks for stems?

My local wood working shop had blanks for pens and some of them definitely look to be acrylic. Can these be used to make stems?

Yes, they sure can!

That's what I use for my wilder stem colors. You just can't get a really long stem out of 'em, but that's not often a problem for me.
