As well you should be, Rad. Nice sharp lines exactly where they should be. I'm certainly no expert, but anyone wondering what a traditional bulldog should look like, can use yours as a good example.

It's kinda surprising that after, what, over a 1000 pipes, that's your first bulldog. You definitely nailed it. I hope it's a shape you keep in your arsenal!

I love the blast, to smooth rings and sharp saucer top. It adds your style to the traditional.

Stunning. I didn't like bulldogs for the longest time but now that I am a newbie at making pipes, I appreciate the difficulty in pulling off one of these correctly. The blast is beautiful.

What is the inner diameter of your airflow? The picture with the stem out makes it look huge.

The smoke channel is 5/32 (4mm). The end of the tenon is chamfered, so that's what makes it look huge.

In-freakin'-credible!

I love the classic shapes, and this one looks almost exactly like the 1939 Dunhill grp. 3 straight Bulldog with Cumberland stem I didn't buy when I had the chance a few years back. Same price, too!

I'd rather have this one, I'm sure it'd smoke better.

Very very nice pipe Rad. I'm not fond of Bulldog pipes but this one is very beautiful. Moreover, Bulldog shape aren't easy to manage. For me, it will be a challenge in few weeks as I've received an order of english bulldog pipe.

The shape, the finish and the stem are very harmonious, you can be proud

That's pretty much how I came to make this one. I got an order for it.

I've always shied away from that diamond shank and all of the geometry on the tapered stem, but once I got it going, everything seemed to sort of resolve itself naturally.

My thoughts exactly.

If I was gonna pick at this pipe from a classical shaping point of view, I'd knock it for two very minor things. First, the top ring being as it were "part" of the top of the pipe bugs me visually. Second, I'd suggest that the shank is a tiny bit long in proportion to the bowl and in proportion to the overall pipe, particularly if you look at the "ordinary" proportions of stem length being roughly equal to 1/2 the entire pipe.

But those are I think personal preferences maybe more than some established guideline.... I dunno.

Anyway, you did a very nice job on keeping the diamond centered on the mortise, and anyone who has done a bully like this knows that's ANYTHING but a given. Great pipe.

PS out of curiosity, why would you bevel the tenon end so significantly on a straight pipe? I thought the theory on that was to leave things as smooth internally as possible?
