Bamboo sources?

I think I'm ready to give a bamboo shank a try.

Anyone get any recently from Mingdon? I had trouble figuring out his website when I attempted to order... I have an E-mail into him.

What other sources is there for good quality bamboo?

I saw that Tim West had some in Chicago, and saw a few other folks that had some, but stupidly forget to pick any up. Has anyone tried the stuff from Tim? Any other ideas? Anyone have a spare chunk or two they might like to sell?

Scott, I'm just seeing this and picked up some bamboo recently..... Don't really know what size your looking for but the bamboo I have runs in the 12mm range, give or take. (I haven't measured it, that's what the guy I get it from says it is.

If your still looking for some I have a few spare sticks I could part with and could get more.

This is as good a looking bamboo as I've seen on any pipe, although some of it doesn't have quite as close knuckles as others I've seen.

Here is an example of the bamboo on a pipe I'm saving from the scrap bin and will give you an idea of what it looks like.

The bamboo on this pipe is just as it came, color and all.

I have about 10 sticks of this right now but can get more if needed. Price, about $3 a stick. You can contact me at steve@new2youresale.com

Thanks for the reply Steve!

Actually, I received an order from Mingdon that I'm very happy with. I'm not near as happy about what I've done with it so far, but I think I'm on the right track with that now too! Darn tricky material to work with!
