Wood Stummel / Alternate tobacco chamber

Hiya Folks,
I absolutely LOVE clays. That being said, they are a real pain in the rear when it comes to travelling.
I Don't like meerschaum as much - there's something about the flavor that puts me off.
My question is this. How does one affix a meerschaum bowl into a normal tobacco chamber? I would absolutely love to produce some clay bowls and sink them into some wood stummels (Olive / Briar / whatever) but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. Are there any resources out there that explain how this is done?
Thanks!
