One thing to watch out for is that most bowl turning blanks are sold "green". They're covered with pariffin or some other sealer to keep the moisture in during storage/shipment, then the artisan is tasked with seasoning the wood according to whatever his needs are. At first glance, it looks to me as these blanks are green and covered in wax. I could be wrong.

I just found some kiln dried cherry blanks on eBay that are just the right size for getting a pipe or three out of each block. Poke around there, you might find some seasoned olive.

So, these hunks of cherry that I found on eBay came yesterday. Nice wood, looke like they'll make some impressive pipes. I was confused for a while though. I thought I had bought three blocks of cherry, and was pleased with the amount f money I spent on them. Turns out, though, I actually bought *10* blocks at that price.
